Supervisor of Environmental Services & Patient Transportation – Full Time/Afternoon Shift – West Bloomfield Hospital

Under the supervision of the Manager of Environmental Services & Patient Transportation, completes a variety of duties including, but not limited to, providing supervision to the 24/7 Environmental Services & Patient Transportation departments, supervises the operational and personnel activities for both departments.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Must have proven ability to successfully supervise multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines. Supervises and leads the personnel in the department in order to maintain the hospital in a clean and orderly fashion.* Maintains and monitor Tele-tracking.* Maintains and supports goals of the department, promotes team work, and promotes customer service standards to ensure high service levels are achieved.* Performs duties of assigned personnel as required to maintain schedules and efficient department operations. Anticipates and plans staffing needs. Covers sick and vacation requests within budget. Must help control the Express budget.* Understand Shipment Management Program. Checks equipment for proper operation and request repairs when necessary.* Plans, assigns and reviews the work including, checking quality and quantity. Monitors and reviews assigned areas. Observes and evaluates staff’s work performance. Provides input for department procedures.* Trains new employees and introduces and instructs in the use of new equipment and cleaning procedures. Instructs and advises personnel on methods and procedures.* Set performance goals, coaches and motivates staff. Recognizes and rewards staff for job well done.* Administers disciplinary action according to the HFHS policy when appropriate.* Identifies problems and quickly resolve customer issues to ensure customer satisfaction. Performs service recovery if appropriate.* Maintain communication with all levels of the organization. Assist other Support Services by providing critical, seamless communication between all groups and the patient caregiver.* Report any Patient Transportation/Environmental Services issues to management and monitor compliance, including submitting RL if appropriate.* Lead safety initiatives and perform safety audits.* Maintains departmental records on supplies, inventory, staff attendance and work schedules.* Works with vendors. Inventories and orders supplies as assigned.* Performs other related duties as assigned.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:* High School Diploma or equivalent required. Higher education preferred.* Approximately 2 years of related experience in order to gain knowledge of environmental services and healthcare patient transportation processes, operation of equipment and familiarity with materials utilized in patient transportation; including some leadership experience.
