Shift Manager Trainee

Position Summary Develop, Learn and mentor under the store management team.

Maximize customer satisfaction, sales and profit.

Perform general duties of Customer Service Representative.

Job Responsibilities Maximize Customer Satisfaction and Sales Improvement by delivering Customer Service +1 * Organize time of self and others to ensure Customer Service Plus One* Handle customer’s questions, complaints and returns quickly and appropriately* Provide quick, friendly service with a welcoming smile* Suggest additional and promotional items* Maintain displays and product presentation; suggest merchandising improvements* Willing to work flexible hours when needed Oversee the Work of Shift Personnel * Treat employees fairly* Prioritize duties, manage time of self and shift personnel* Ensure alcohol, tobacco, lotto and instant lottery sales are appropriately handled* Ensure shift coverage, making special arrangements if necessary* Communicate shift activities or concerns to Store Manager and fellow Shift Managers* Perform store walks and identify presentation and cleaning needs inside and outside * Orient and train new employees Cash Handling/Reporting and Operations * Perform duties and follow policy on cash handling/reporting* Perform shift and daily opening/closing activities* Perform till audits* Ensure cash is secure and accounted for as per policy* Ensure sales are recorded as per policy Safety and Security * Ensure VCR is running and operating as per policy* Correct and report any safety or security violations, concerns, etc.* Ensure internal and external store areas are kept free of safety hazards Personal Conduct * Follow through on assigned tasks, demonstrate urgency in getting things done* Maintain confidentiality of store personnel and operation* Follow and enforce policy: Dress code, attendance, etc.

Relationships: Manager: * Immediate supervisor* Consult regarding policy and procedures, problems and questions* Keep informed of changes and activities in store, company, competition* Exchange ideas Supervisor/Operations Director/Department Heads * Inform of any problems or questions if unable to reach manager, if further clarification is needed, or if manager is part of, or unsympathetic to a problem/ concern Customer Service Representatives/Other Store Personnel * Coordinate activities to assure customer service and task completion* Hold accountable for company policy and procedures* Provide assistance and encouragement Education/Experience Requirements: * High School Diploma or equivalent* Minimum of 90 days as Quality Dairy Customer Service Representative or _________prior management experience* Completion of Customer Service Representative Training* Completion of Shift Manager Development and Certification Program Mental/Physical Requirements: * Judgment and decision making to handle questions or problems relating to people, equipment, products, etc.* Ability to implement policies and programs* Ability to work with and through other people* Aware of merchandising, safety/security and personnel issues which need attention* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing* Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, personalities and shifts* Ability to work without close supervision* Work flexible hours, mostly afternoon or midnight shifts* Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees* Enter sales correctly into the register and make correct change* Handle multiple priorities quickly* Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, personalities and shifts* Judgment and decision making to handle questions or problems relating to people, equipment, products, etc.* Aware of merchandising, safety/security and customer issues which need attention* Ability to read and follow policies and training information* Ability to work with and through other people* Standing without sitting for 6-10 hour shifts (sitting only 1-3 times per shift up to 10 minutes each )* Stooping/kneeling to floor level, climbing, bending and stretching above chest level* Lifting/moving up to 25 pounds on a regular basis* Repetitive arm/wrist movement in scanning items and dipping ice cream* Working in temperature extremes for extended periods (cooler approximately 40º, outdoors shoveling, cleaning in winter and summer)* Lift and organize cases of milk and other containers weighing up to 50 pounds one or more times a shift* Bend and scoop hard ice cream from bulk containers for preparation of cones* Lift and count returnable bottles and cans, stack in bins, bend and lift bags out of deep bins This Job Description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
