This is a Full-time position in detroit, mi posted March 17, 2023.

Under the general supervision of the Technology Manager, the IT System Administrator II is responsible for providing technical support for computer hardware and software applications for DWIHN employees and departments. The System Administrator is also the lead contact and administrator of off-site storage to support IS disaster recovery services.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Installs and configures hardware and software for end user services:
  • Oversees the following:
    • Infrastructure components (physical and virtual)/Servers/Routers/Switches):
      • Firmware Updates
      • Compatibility Matrix
      • Data Center
      • License Management
  • Provides Software Versioning and Control.
  • Builds and Decommissions packages and processes (Image Management).
  • Manages Network servers and technology tools (monitoring).
  • Manages user and Highly Privileged Accounts (HPA).
  • Manages and administers Active Directory for both on-premises and Azure AD accounts.
  • Monitors Performance and Capacity which includes:
    • Identification
    • Trend Analysis
    • Infrastructure Troubleshooting
  • Oversees New Hire onboarding which includes:
    • Hardware staging
    • Imaging
    • Application Support
    • Configuration
  • Oversees Account remediation (offboarding).
  • Provides Data Protection (Backups) which includes:
    • Configuration
    • Remediation
    • Media Management (Tape rotations/Disk storage)
  • Provides Firewall Management.
  • Oversees Access Controls.
  • Provides Audit support (reports, statistics, data).
  • Completes Reporting and Ad hoc Systems Reports.
  • Oversees Business Continuity and Recovery.
  • Manages Security (Physical, Email, Phishing, Cloud/Azure, VPN) which includes:
    • Managing and maintaining building security and surveillance systems.
    • Managing, maintaining and supporting remote connectivity for approved remote workers.
    • Monitoring, configuring and supporting security tools.
  • Develops and implements Process and Procedures/Runbooks/Documentation.
  • Develops, implements and documents Network Operations Center (NOC) procedures, specifications and policies
  • Develops and documents installation procedures and updates.
  • Provides Incident detection/response/remediation which includes:
    • Post Incident reviews (Proactive)
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Corrective Action planning/plans
  • Manages multi-functional printers (MFPs) for network printing, faxing, and scanning.
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends network, server and computer hardware and software.
  • Researches and recommends new networking technologies and services.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating and consulting with vendors and clients for hardware and software purchases, products, services and support.
  • Serves as lead contact and administrator of IT disaster recovery services.
  • Assists with managing all Network Operations Center (NOC) and security-related projects.
  • Assists the Technology Manager in planning information technology budgets and writing bid specifications for the Purchasing Director.
  • Manages and contributes to internal knowledge base with technical documentation, manuals and IT Process training materials.
  • Assists in managing hardware warranties and software licensing.
  • Provides group trainings on new products.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or a related field.

(Experience listed below may be substituted on a year for year basis for required education).


EXPERIENCE:

At least four (4) years of experience in the following areas:

  • Experience in a Microsoft LAN environment, including: Windows Server 2012, Active Directory and Windows 7/10.
  • Experience with VMWare and virtualization of servers and desktops.
  • Experience with local area and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), hardware configuration, Internet/intranet, email systems, telecommunications and data communications, computer operating systems, software packages, software utilities, proper records management and storage for local and distributed environments.
  • Experience performing IT helpdesk support functions.

Working Conditions

Work requires the employee to drive to different sites throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan. Employees must have transportation available to travel to and from offices and for required offsite projects and site visits.

This is a hybrid remote position. Employees will be allowed to work remotely, yet, will be required to come to the office at least two days per week to complete required duties and responsibilities.
