Environmental Field Specialist

Clean Earth

This is a Contract position in Livonia, MI posted May 14, 2022.

Conduct field monitoring and maintenance activities for a variety of projects in support of environmental investigations and remediation.

Take groundwater samples and notes from multiple sites and locations and convert into a report.Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Sampling of groundwater and air using proper sampling and safety procedures.Coordinate the collection and recording of groundwater/air samples and measurements to fulfill defined environmental monitoring requirements.Develop sampling schedules; coordinate with the laboratory for sampling supplies; coordinate with facilities to be sampled; collect samples; prepare chains of custody; and properly label, pack, and ship samples to approved laboratory.Perform regular inspection of groundwater monitoring wells, remediation systems, and vapor intrusion depressurization systems.Maintain proper field notes and documentation using field notebooks, spreadsheets, word processing and database software.Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, co-workers, and contractors to ensure field tasks are completed in a manner to yield representative results.Reviewing laboratory data, maintaining files, updating databases.Calibrate and troubleshoot field monitoring equipment to ensure equipment is operating within normal limits.75% fieldwork, 25% office workThis position will require work both independently and with other team members and may require periodic overtime and periodic non-local travel.QualificationsBasic Required Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED3 years of experience in sampling groundwater using low flow sampling procedures.Knowledge of field monitoring equipment including; photo-ionization detectors, water level detectors, PH/temperature/conductivity meters, and other typical environmental monitoring equipment.Knowledge of monitoring protocols for groundwater and air sampling including applicable environmental and health and safety regulations and regulatory requirements.Ability to prepare and tabulate data to assist Project Managers in report preparation.

Proficient in the use of a PC, specifically Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)Strong organization and time management skillsPreferred QualificationsClear written and verbal communication.

Detail oriented with paperwork and submittals.

Correctly fill out a field notebook, photograph documentation, health and safety audit forms, etc.
