Resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research. Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Skilled and proficient with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Rely mostly on extensive personal experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals. You will perform multiple tasks. Lead and likely advise the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is encouraged. Responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, counseling and advising management.

  • Provides program specific requirements for sourcing process
  • Provides technical background in supplier technical reviews
  • Maintains consistency of effort for the program – knows the Statement of Requirements, program, timing, issues, plan etc. and handles details when changes are required
  • Leads efforts of the supplier within the engineering factory
  • Participates in interface tradeoffs and resolves integration issues
  • Manages the cost, quality, mass, etc. for the electrical system including content and program changes
  • Ensures that the design, development, and electrical release of the system are integrated within the vehicle architecture with quality
  • Conducts Product Development Team meetings to ensure milestones and timing are met
  • Leads benchmarking analysis to support innovation, tradeoff or cost /benefit analysis
  • Provides dealership remediation support
  • Generates technical solutions for current, new and major programs with engineers
  • Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
  • Develops engineering designs (including subsystems)
  • Plans and implements test and/or development programs
  • Releases parts and subsystems
  • Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Interface between BFO and DRE on design direction
  • Leads discussion with program teams on design and execution
  • Provides complexity reduction ideas as a direct collaborate with marketing

    Additional Job Description
    Required:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
    • 3+ years experience
    • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
    • Proven technical and professional skills in job-related area required
    • Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
    • Specific knowledge of engineering subject area (e.g. mechanics, physics, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related area
    • High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
    • High level of oral and written communication skills

    Preferred:

    • 5+ years of experience in electrical components
    • Familiarity with GM release processes such as ECM, PRTS, APM
    • Release experience of GM electrical components including wiring & electric vehicles development
