Southkent Veterinary Hospital is located in beautiful western Michigan. In the Grand Rapids area, both office locations (Caledonia and Byron Center) are within less than an hour drive from breathtaking Lake Michigan beaches. Southkent is a locally owned veterinary practice that is proud to provide excellent care to our local community. Southkent was founded in 1949 by Dr. Wayne Finkbeiner whose vision was to offer the best and most affordable care possible to everyone. While we have grown throughout the years, our clients and beloved patients are still our focus. We are proud to work together as a team to ensure the best care possible for our patients and clients.

Our veterinarians have the freedom to practice their own style of medicine and provide individualized care to clients and patients. With the support of a fully staffed and experienced team, veterinarians can delegate discharge instructions, preventive care discussions, and other assignments to the technician or assistant. As a multi-doctor practice, our veterinarians have the opportunity to collaborate and seek guidance and mentorship from senior doctors.

At Southkent, we offer high quality care using digital dental radiography, a dental unit with a lift table, a large 2-table surgical suite, ultrasound machine, digital radiography and much more. No emergency or on-call shifts as well as flexible scheduling allows for the work-life balance we all dream of.
