Job Description Summary

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and implementation of all aspects of human resources, including but not limited to employee relations, training, talent development and performance management, compensation and benefits, HR information coordination and workers’ compensation. This position reports directly to the VP of Human Resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in development and execution of Company and HR department goals, objectives, and standards.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and support for the HR team. Regularly meets with employees to access their job satisfaction, retention risk and overall morale; acts as an employee advocate – develops and implements recommendations to address known challenges.
  • Recommends, implements, and interprets policies, procedures, including responsibility for reviewing and approving documents in the company’s HRIS system, Paylocity.
  • Analyzes HR reports and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals and recommends new approaches to effect continual improvements.
  • Partners with local leadership on all aspects of human resources, including performance management, disciplinary investigations, and coaching and motivating teams.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manages and supports recruitment efforts for all exempt and non-exempt positions within the organization. Ensures processes follow federal and state laws and in adherence with company policies. Suggest modifications of existing plans to maintain company’s competitive position in labor market.
  • Ensures all new hire orientation, training programs and exit interview processes are administered timely and in accordance with company policies.
  • Assists administration of employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, leave/disability/life, and retirement benefits; analyzes wage and salary reports to determine competitive compensation plans; monitors the administration of various fringe benefit programs (i.e., wellness, safety shoes, uniform, RX safety glasses) to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Provides guidance and ensures accurate administration of programs pertaining to attendance/absenteeism, HR metrics, recruiting, training and development.
  • Manages workers’ compensation and wellness programs and ensures compliance with standards and regulations for the location.
  • Acts as change agent and employee advocate – serving as the guardian for company values and culture.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows established practices & procedures, including:
    • Follows all safety rules and procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others.
    • Follows all environmental protocols as applicable.
    • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Competencies

Minimum education and experience required:

  • SHRM CP, PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience in a leadership, generalist and/or HR compliance role
  • Must be detail-orientated and able to multi-task
  • Intermediate computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, able to bring energy to this leadership role
  • Able to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide variety of personalities and levels of staff members
  • Safety or Benefits experience is a plus
