Employment Type: Full-Time, Hybrid #LI-HYBRIDWhat you should know about the role:The Chief Financial Officer assists the President/CEO in the oversight of the financial activities of the credit union, directs the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth. The CFO position is responsible for treasury, budgeting, tax, accounting, asset and liability management, and financial control activities. The CFO position plans, directs, and controls the organization’s overall financial plans and policies, and accounting practices. This position develops and coordinates necessary and appropriate accounting and statistical data and reports. The CFO counsels management on fiscal control and profitability. The CFO is responsible for the fair measurement and presentation of the company’s financial results and condition under U.S. GAAP, and for the safeguarding and optimum use of the organization’s assets in order to maximize return.The CFO directs the Accounting, Business Reporting, Treasury, Risk, Internal Audit and Compliance functions providing leadership, training and supervision while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, applicable state and federal banking regulations and laws. The CFO manages an expanding team of high level professionals. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate.Oversee budget planning, preparation and administration processes to control operating expenses and achieve the company’s strategic objectives.Manages and optimizes the investment and borrowing portfolios of Advia Credit Union in order to achieve above average earnings and safeguard the assets of the financial institution for the membership.Monitors interest rate, credit and portfolio risk status and set limitations as required for Asset/Liability Management. Identify ways to reduce interest rate risk and sensitivity. Provide detailed ALCO and Investment reports to Board and Executive Management. Updates the ALM policy in accordance with the NCUA rules and regulations.Is responsible for the leadership team managing the compliance department. This team is responsible for oversight and management of the credit union’s overall compliance programs including but not limited to BSA, lending, deposit, and operational rules, regulations and statutory requirements. This team is also responsible for record retention, vendor relationships, contracts, and due diligence of all third party partners.Is responsible for the leadership team managing the fraud department which includes the investigation of cases of fraud involving use of electronic/cyber systems, debit and credit cards, new accounts, account abuse, check forgery, elder abuse, suspected money laundering and check kiting, identity theft and the like. Analyzes various reports to identify and limit potential fraudulent actions on member accounts.Is responsible for the leadership team managing the internal auditing team which includes audit programs and objectives, and maintaining/improving internal controls. Provides management with a review of accounting, financial, information systems, and other operations by measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of accounting and management controls. Serves as the Credit Unions liaison with NCUA examiners and independent auditor to ensure they receive the necessary information to perform their reviews.Proactively outreach and engage with the community. This could include utilizing Advia volunteer hours, serving on committees or boards, or other situations that help support Advia’s core values and social mission.Is responsible for the leadership team managing the Analytics team. This team supports all of the analytics needs of Advia CU. This may include recommending marketing activity, increasing market expansion and managing product and service delivery products. This position directs quantitative and qualitative research efforts using statistical methodology and studies to conduct analysis of programs, products and services offered, market potential, competitive intelligence, member satisfaction and industry standards to recommend sales goals and to help drive progress.Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.Experience:Experience in investment strategies and management of liquidity and investment portfolios.Education/Certifications/Licenses:A college degree and a professional certificate or a post graduate degree. CFA, CPA and CMA preferred.Interpersonal Skills:The ability to motivate or influence inside or outside senior level personnel is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequent material presentations and a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.Other Skills:Experience in generally accepted accounting principles and all State and Federal regulations, including those of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, affecting the company’s finance function. Experience in budget forecasting and regulatory reporting. Knowledge of income tax regulations and requirements for Thrift institutions.Physical Requirements:Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 4-6 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver when necessary),commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.Working Conditions:Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.Mental and/or Emotional Requirements:Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team; capable of planning anddirecting the work activities of others. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
